9/11 in Magazines
Submitted by Broadsheet on Sun, 09/11/2011 - 4:00pm
Today we mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In addition to the memorials, news specials, and events, many magazines have published special issues and cover articles which explore the event, the aftermath, and its significance. Reason's August/September issue includes a thought-provoking special section on 9/11, which is also available online. It includes excellent articles on privacy, art, memory, and fear. Christianity Today also provides a special section in its September issue which examines the event and its aftermath from a Christian perspective. These articles are also available on the magazine's website. USA Today published a special issue, Remembering 9/11; A Tribute to Heroes. It's full of pictures and includes a lot of timelines and tributes to the fallen. While USA Today does have an excellent archive of 9/11 related information, this special issue isn't available online. We have several copies in the Periodicals Department. New York printed a special double issue for the anniversary organized into "The Encyclopedia of 9/11", which runs from Abbottabad to Zazi, Najibullah. The coverage is extensive and compelling; if you really want to know about what 9/11 meant to New Yorkers, this is the special issue for you. At the Main Library we have assembled a display of books and movies about 9/11. We also have slips of paper at the display and at reference desks around the building on which you can share your 9/11 experiences. Please stop in and participate! Related Categories: |
