Fitness for Women

Are you a woman who desires to exercise (maybe) and be fit (definitely)? Are you aware that regular exercise can minimize your risk of heart disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and certain cancers? (Regular Exercise Keeps Women on Track, Source: Tufts University, 2001.)

Whether your fitness interest is focused on weight training, yoga, cycling, or aerobics, RCPL has just the right resources for you!

You can learn about all the ways exercise can benefit YOU on the site from Harvard's School of Public Health. Or you may read about 7 women (personal blogs and videos) who have taken the 12-week Choose to Move Challenge for a healthier lifestyle. Choose To Move is the American Heart Association's free 12-week physical activity program for women. The program shows women how to Choose To Move by being physically active, love their bodies, select and eat nutritious foods, and take time for themselves.

You've got the knowledge. It's time to get started. Be good to yourself and make exercise (fitness) a regular habit!

Here are some of Richland County Public Library's resources to try, which include books, a Playaway, and s.
