As our aging population increases, many of us are facing a number of issues: How can we maintain our health during our later years? What programs are in place to help with aging issues? What are some of the challenges and solutions for those serving as caregivers to loved ones? What information is available to our citizens?
RCPL has asked these same questions, and during the week of June 21, 2010, we are holding a series of programs to address these concerns. Our Focus on Aging series will include:
Monday, June 21 – Focus on Aging: Medicare Part D, and You—Judy Greenwood from the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging—6 p.m., Bostick Auditorium, Main
Tuesday, June 22 – Focus on Aging: Social Security and You—Chris Jenkins, South Carolina Public Affairs Specialist, Social Security Administration--6 p.m., Bostick Auditorium, Main
Wednesday, June 23 – Focus on Aging: Healthy Aging—Jacqueline Chappell, Geriatric Services Manager, Palmetto Health—6:00 p.m., Bostick Auditorium, Main
Thursday, June 24 – Focus on Aging: Services for Midlands’ Aged and Their Caregivers—Julie Davis, Aging Program Specialist, Area Agency on Aging—6:30 p.m., Third Level Gallery, Main
In addition to the programs, we have created a list of resources at RCPL and online for you. Many of us are on the threshold of the age when we will need this information for ourselves or loved ones. Others of us already are using some of these services. Regardless of age, we all have questions. Bring your questions—and your loved ones—and join us for our Focus on Aging series.
