Instead of buying mounds of impersonal greeting cards during the holiday season, I find that making my own is a great way to spend time with my family and express my creativity. I can put as many or as few words as I'd like inside the card, and I'll know it says exactly what I want. Vellum paper and white Xerox paper can make some truly beautiful cards. Here's what you'll need to do:
1. Cut several pieces of vellum card to measure 17 x 12cm when folded in half.
2. Cut several pieces of Xerox paper to measure 15 x 10cm when folded in half.
3. Use a glue stick or double-sided adhesive to attach the folded Xerox paper to the inside of the folded vellum card. (You may want to write your message on the Xerox paper before pasting it to the vellum card.)
Now you are ready to decorate the card. Glitter pens, extra buttons, gift wrap, gold leaf paper, ribbon, and stencils can be used to make designs throughout your cards. If you are making Christmas cards, try using a snowflake stencil to decorate the outside. A family picture would be a nice cover as well. Be as creative as you like; the person receiving the card will appreciate your hard work.
