Homemade Sushi

Do you have a favorite sushi place in town? How about your own kitchen? Shopping for the ingredients - rice, seafood, wasabi, nori (seaweed) - and gathering some sushi how-to books from the library are all you need to do to turn your kitchen into a sushi kitchen. The books listed below include details about what types of rice and fish to buy, how to prepare the ingredients and how to roll a wide variety of rolls.
The Encyclopedia of Sushi Rolls can help you discover some popular and tasty rolls to try, and Vegetarian Sushi is a good book for anyone who likes their sushi fish-free. I really enjoyed reading about the history of sushi and Japanese cuisine included in many of these books. Sushi apparently began in Japan as a way to preserve fish using vinegared rice, and now it is a favorite meal all over the world!
If you create some unique rolls, we'd love to hear about them! Add your recipe as a comment; you might just inspire other readers to try your roll! Related Categories: |
