I was discussing the challenges of staying physically fit with a coworker who is in great shape, and I told her I was looking for something easy and inexpensive to do that would give me more of an aerobic workout.
She said that she had started jumping rope. What a great idea! According to experts, ten minutes of jumping rope can be as effective as thirty minutes of jogging. The only equipment needed is a jump rope, supportive shoes and some lively music to set the pace. In addition, jumping rope is fun. I’m sure that many of us have wonderful childhood memories of jumping rope with other kids in the neighborhood. There are resources in the RCPL catalog that can tell you everything you need to know about reviving your childhood skills and becoming more physically fit while you jump.
What about you? What are your plans for becoming more physically fit this summer?
