Lucky Peach

Have you heard about the newest hippest food magazine? It's sold out two printings thus far and had a glowing review in the New York Times - a new magazine with heft, detail, and no ads. It's called Lucky Peach and yes, it's a little in love with its own hip factor, but it's also got good reason to brag about itself. Lucky Peach is to be published quarterly by too-cool-for-school McSweeney's (you may know them from McSweeney's Quarterly Concern or McSweeney's Internet Tendency) and edited by David Chang and Peter Meehan. Each issue will delve deep into a single food topic. Heads up, returning college students - the first issue is all about ramen! There's a tour of the ramens of Japan, comparisons between Italian pasta and the alkaline noodles found in ramen, and even ramen-related fiction. And right in the middle there's a rambling argument between Anthony Bourdain, Wylie Dufresne, and David Chang about mediocrity in modern American restaurants that's definitely worth a read. Where can you find Lucky Peach? They sold out their printing, right? Fear not, we picked up a copy here at the Periodicals Department! Stop by and take a look! Related Categories: |
