We Can Help Light the Way

As the days get shorter, and darkness descends earlier, we must look to artificial lighting more than we might during the summer. If you want to create a certain atmosphere in your home for a special occasion or for your everyday enjoyment, then think about changing the lighting. Do you have yellow, white, fluorescent, overhead, recessed lighting, table lamps, or floor lamps? In what location should lights be? For what kind of mood are you aiming, and would a dimmer switch or a three-way bulb be useful? Should lights be pointing upward or downward for the best effect? You might also want to consider the best way to arrange lights to accent the exterior of your house. For possible answers to these questions, you can consult the books listed below. These books are just a sample of our lighting resources.

In addition, our subscription databases may have information for you. If you click on "Research Tools" on our home website and then click on "Newspapers and Magazines,"you will see various databases and websites listed. Click on EBSCOHost, then EBSCOHost Web, then Masterfile Premier and enter your search term, such as "home lighting." There may be helpful articles that "light" your way to a "brighter" or "more subdued" (but not "dimmer") future in your home.
