“We wish you love, peace and soul” might be a familiar phrase if you ever watched an episode of Soul Train, a show that offered exposure to some of the greatest African-American musicians. The show’s creator, Don Cornelius, recently passed away on February 1, 2012 yet he leaves behind a legacy of opportunity for a plethora of R&B, hip hop, jazz, soul, disco and gospel artists. Many of the show’s viewers watched faithfully to catch a live performance of their favorite group, however much of the show featured dancers who had unique moves that even the unskilled dancer watching at home would try to imitate. Re-runs of Soul Train are still playing on TV today but if you can’t catch an episode, stop by your local library today to check out books, CDs and DVDs of some of the famous musicians who appeared on the show!
