Where the Wild Things Are!!!

In case you haven't noticed, we're kind of wild about Where the Wild Things Are at RCPL.  Pure love and imagination!  A must read for all ages!  Maurice Sendak's picture book for children was originally published in 1963 and has become regarded as a masterpiece of children's literature.

Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers's film adaptation of this classic children's story comes out on Friday, October 16.  Check local papers or online for showings near you.

Learn more about the movie release party in the Children's Room of the Main Library to be held Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m.   This party for all ages is free and open to the public.

By the way, I've been almost as excited about the soundtrack to the film as I am about the film itself.  If you're an indie rock fan like I am, you're probably already familiar with Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  I recently read the article "Listen: Karen O's 'Wild Things' Soundtrack" at Spin magazine online.  You can listen to the entire soundtrack online.  Thanks, Karen O and the Kids!

The soundtrack is already available for purchase in stores, and the library has copies on order.  Stay tuned and be sure to check the 1431 New Arrivals online so you can put your copy on hold.

I love Where the Wild Things Are. I cannot wait to see this film!! It's always so interesting to see how a book (especially one that's so beloved) is adapted to the screen.
