Who Will Wear the Green Jacket?

The Masters Golf Tournament is just around the corner, and everyone is eagerly anticipating Tiger's return to the tour.  There is no bigger sports story out there - even March madness and all the hype surrounding the NCAA basketball tournament is taking a back seat.  Will the fans support him?  Can he take the pressure?  Can he win?  Will it be a "Master-ful" return for Tiger?  I'm really excited this year because I finally got tickets to a practice round again - I'm going on Wednesday so I'll get to see the Par 3 Tournament too!  I'll definitely be Tiger scouting!

To get in the mood, we've got some great new golf magazines that preview the Masters Tournament and the rest of the year's majors.  Some of them feel Phil Mickelson is positioned to make a run at No. 1.  Time will tell!  We even have a copy of the Masters Journal 2010, the Official Program of the Masters Tournament, which has a hole-by-hole description of the course.  Sports Illustrated also has a Masters Preview issue each year.

Perhaps you'd rather play than watch?  Well, we've got something for you too!  The April issue of Golf Tips (you'll find it in our seasonal sports display in the Periodicals Dept.) has tips on how to win the Masters from recent champs.  We have regular subscriptions to Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, both filled with information on how to improve your game.  We also have the Golf Tips 2010 Golf Equipment Buyer's Guide, in case you need a new hybrid or putter!

Watch for my follow-up post when I return from my trip to Augusta - I might even come back with a picture of Tiger!

Did you get to see any players skip a ball across the lake on the 16th hole? I've heard that's a tradition during Masters practice rounds. I think that'd be cool to see!

Skipped balls

Unfortunately I didn't get out as far as the 16th hole this time, so didn't get to see any balls skipped across the lake.  But I understand that the pros are so good at doing it I'm surprised they don't try it during the competition!  Sixteen is such a tough hole.
