A large searchable database which provides information on such topics as history, biography, literature, music, pop culture, folklore, business, slavery, civil rights, politics, and religion.

American Slavery Resource

The American Slave is a collection of thousands of interviews with former slaves conducted under the Works Progress Administration, primarily in the 1930s. Dr. George P. Rawick researched, collected and edited these narratives from the individual state archives into the three series of more than forty volumes that make up The American Slave.

This excellent resource presents brief biographies of each president, lists of cabinet members and staff, and essays on key events and accomplishments for each administration.

Biographical Directory of the United States Congress, 1774 to Present

Site offers biographical information for all individuals who have served in the United States Congress. Individuals from the Continental Congress are included as well. It includes images of many, material from other sources, and allows users to create useful lists by using the drop-down lists included on the site.

This site offers biographical profiles on famous Classical Music composers.

Colonial Hall: Biographies of America's Founders

Site provides biographies of America's Founding Fathers. Divided into three categories, it lists Signers of the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution.

U. S. Civil War Generals
