AFI: American Film Institute

American films. Contains lists such as the 100 best. Also includes lists such as best comedies, best romantic films and the best thrillers.

All Movie Guide

This site allows the user to search by movie, person or keyword. It also includes a film finder function where a search for a movie title can be narrowed, for example, by entering the names of two people who have been in a film together or the author or title of an original work on which a film is based.

Filmmaker Magazine

A selection of articles from the magazine are available on this site. They include interviews with directors, stories about specific films and articles about filmmaking history.

Internet Movie Database

Includes information on films and actors from the big screen and televison. This is the database for information on film. Anther very useful function of this site is the search by plot keyword. It can help in finding a film when there is little information available.

Media Resources Center UC-Berkeley

This site is a comprehensive resource for finding information about film and includes both documentary and feature films. It is very useful for locating films on specific topics.

National Film Preservation Board (Library of Congress)

This site contains a list of the films on the National Film Registry. Each year 25 "culturally, historically or asethetically" siginificant films are selected by the Librarian of Congress to be added to the registry. It is designed to "increase public awareness of the richness of American cinema." Information ranging from film schools to copyright can also be found on this site.
