Volunteer Positions

RCPL has a great opportunity to learn how a working Web team manages the online presence of a high profile public agency. RCPL is looking for Web site developer (Web site team) Interns or Volunteers to help with various tasks in the library's Virtual Services department.

One position would be responsible for various tasks such as but not limited to gathering, editing, and/or writing web content; working with other staff members to plan web features; web copy writing and organization; wire framing and using other planning mechanisms to communicate planned functionality; and reporting on projects and Web site usage.

A second position would include various tasks such as but not limited to programming custom modules; troubleshooting existing code and templates; implementing page layouts; administration and configuration of the Drupal content management system; wire framing and using other planning mechanisms to communicate planned functionality; and reporting when necessary.

A Branch Assistant is a jack of all trades.  They support the branch library with an assortment of duties that might include pulling and organizing library materials, assisting with programs, welcoming customers and special projects.  You will need to engage well with others and have the physical ability to push, bend and reach our materials.

Our Junior Volunteers ( 5th grade minimum) learn about the library while helping our staff meet the needs of our customers and community.  They might sort books and magazines, straighten and clean books and assist staff with the preparation of materials for a youth program.

Be a consultant for the library!  Teen volunteers (7th-12th grade) on our Teen Advisory Board meet once a month to provide programming ideas and assist with web-site content development for Teen Central. You can volunteer once a  month and earn community service hours at the library. Locations for TAB meetings include Cooper Branch, Main Library, Northeast Regional and Southeast Regional. Visit myRCPL.com/teen for an online application.
